 Lesson 1 : A1: Thực hành nói về các hoạt động trong 
 quá khứ với thời quá khứ đơn.
A. Aims and requests:
I. Aims: Develop Ss’ speaking about talking about vacation activities using “was, were, wasn’t, weren’t” and some past regular verbs.
II. Requests: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to develop their speaking skill by talking about vacation activities using “was, were, wasn’t, weren’t” and some past regular/ irregular verbs.

II. Checking up previous lesson.
1. Put the verbs in the correct form.
a. They (come) here next week?
b. He always (drive) to work.
c. We (study) English now.
2. Call 3 Ss to do on the board.
3. Remark, correct and give marks.
III. New lesson.
1. Introduction: Today, you’ll learn the past simple with some regular/ irregular verbs and “to be” in the past.
2. Presentation
a. Vocabulary:
- T elicits the new words.
- Modal- have Ss repeat chorally and read individually.
+ an aquarium: bể cá
+ a gift: quà (situation) 
+ a souvenir: đồ lưu niệm
+ be- was/ were: thì, là (situation)
+ have- had: có (antonym)
+ take- took: cầm, nắm, mang
+ go- went: đi
+ buy- bought: mua
* Check vocab: Matching 
b. Presentstion dialogue 
- Have Ss read the dialogue and give the model sentences.
- Have Ss repeat chorally and in pairs.
 Liz bought souvenirs.
 Liz visited Tri Nguyen Aquarium. 
* Form: The past simple tense.
S + Ved/ irregular + O.
To be: I/ he/ she + was; We/ you/ they + were
Ex: buy- bought, take- took, go- went
I went to the zoo yesterday.
 Visit- visited, talk- talked, return- returned
My brother returned home from New York last week.
* Uses: It is used to express an action which happened in the past at a definite time with “yesterday, last”.
 3. Practice: a. Word cue Drill.
- Run through the cues.
- Model the first one. 
- Have Ss work in pairs to practise the pictures.
- Call some pairs of Ss to practise
- Correct Ss’ mistakes.

d. Liz/ return/ Ha Noi
e. Liz/ go/ Nha Trang 
b. Number the sentences.
- Have Ss read the dialogue again then numbers the sentences.
- Get fedd back and correct.
 4. Further Practice: Guessing game.
- Have Ss write a sentence about where they were last summer vacation.
Ex: Last vacation I was in...(name of place)
- Have the rest of class guess the action.
IV. Consolidation.
* Put the verbs in the past simple tense.
1. I (go) to Ha Noi last Sunday.
2. She (visit) her parents last week.
3. We (be) in the supermarket yesterday.
- Get feedback and correct.
V. Homework.
- Learn the new words.
- Do exercises: A1, 2, 3
