Objective: Knowledge: at the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to practice making dialogues to ask for the way and show the direction well. Skill : listening and speaking b. Teaching aid: book, poster with the street map and chalk. c. PROCEDURE: 1. Warm up: T: greet and call some ss to read the dialogues by heart before the class Ss: raise the hand to do 2. Presentation: Teacher’s & Students’ activities Content of activities Activity 1: Ask for and give direction to some places T: call ss to say the structures used to ask for the way again. Ss: raise the hand to do T: guide the duty they have to do with the street map. Ss: listen carefully. T: allow them time to work in pairs Ss: work in pair to T: call some pairs to present before the class Ss: raise the hand to do. T; ask ss to make dialogues to these places with the structures already revised. Make an example dialogue with a student Ss: apply to make their own dialogues T: call some pairs to present their own dialogues Ss: raise the hand to do T; correct the mistakes Ss: listen * Say the structures used to ask for the way: Could you tell / show me the way how to go to ? * Now there are 8 places in the box. Look at the street map to say their position. E.g.: A: Where is the bank? B: It is between the hotel and the Restaurant. It’s opposite the hospital ( Ask and answer similarly with the rest places given ) * Make dialogues to ask and answer the way to these places. S: Could you tell me how to get to the police station, please ? T: Go straight ahead. Take the first street on the left. It is between the post office and the museum. It is opposite the stadium. ( Make dialogues with your partners ) Activity 2 : Listen and write the places T: ask ss to look at the street map again and then explain the next duty they have to do. Ss: listen carefully to do T: play the tape twice or three times Ss: listen and try to find out. T: ask ss to compare with their friends Ss: do as the request T; call some ss to give their answers Ss: raise the hand to do T: give the correct answers Ss; listen and note down. * Now look at the map. Listen and write the right places you hear. E.g.: If now you go straight ahead to the second street, turn left. What is on the right next to the restaurant? Can you guess what they want? * practice the dialogue and then answer the questions : Hoa needs some local stamps for overseas mail and a post card. She needs stamps for overseas mail because she has a pen pal in America. She needs a phone card to phone her parents once a week. * New words : + local stamps + overseas mail + phone card. Activity 4: Making a new dialogue. T: ask ss to work in pair to make a new dialogue basing n the dialogue in part 2 Ss; listen and apply to do T; go around to help ss make their dialogues.
