We call the cold ‘common” because every year millions of people catch it.

We can prevent a cold by eating well, doing exercises, keeping fit and staying healthy.
* Post- reading : retell something about “the common cold”

Tim goes to the dentist
When Tim got up this morning, he felt a pain in his teeth. He came downstairs slowly. His mother looked up from her breakfast.
“What’s the matter, Tim? That tooth again?”
Tim just nodded his head without saying word.
“Well, there’s only one thing to do about that. I’ll call Dr. Karren and ask him to take care of you right away.”
“Never mind, Mom, it doesn’t hurt much.”
“What are you scared of? Dr. Karren won’t hurt you.”
Half an hour latter, Tim was on his way to the dentist. He was worried and scared. Why do people have teeth? Why do teeth have to ache? He didn’t want to go the dentist, and he was afraid of the drilling. The bus came and he got on the bus. He found a seat near the front of the bus.
“Where are you going, Tim?” a voice came from a seat nearby.
Tim looked up. It was Mrs. Kent. She lived round the corner.
“I’m going to the dentist,” he answered.
“What a shame,” said Mrs. Kent. “But don’t worry, it won’t hurt much.”
Tim remembered the sign in front of the dentist’s surgery. The sign said, “Smile, it won’t hurt.” But hr didn’t feel better now. He was very scared. Everyone said “it won’t hurt” but he thought it did.
