III. Techniques : eliciting, questioning & answering, role play.

IV. Teaching aids : pictures, cassette.

V . Time : 45 minutes

LESSON 2: FRIENDS ( A 3,4,5 )
I. Objectives :

	1. Vocabulary :	How is everything? , pretty good , just fine, 
2. Grammar :	(none) 
	3. Structures :	(none) 
III. Techniques :	eliciting, questioning & answering, role play.
IV. Teaching aids :	pictures, cassette.
V . Time :	45 minutes
VI. Procedures :

Warm – up.
- Ask students to read the text about Hoa.
- Ask questions. 
Pre –listening. 
 Ask students to look at the picture. 
- Ask questions. 
 1. Who are they?
 2. What are they doing?
 3. What does Mr.Tan do?
 4. What does Nga do?
 5. How does Mr. Tan greet Nga and vice versa?
- Introduce the lesson.
- Have students listen to the tape. 
- Notice the difference in greeting between ages.
- Have students practice the dialogue.
While –listening. 
¯ Activity 1:
- Ask students to look at the words in the box.
- Explain the words in the box.
- Ask students to look at the open-dialogues (4a,b). 
- Have students listen and fill in the gaps.
- Call students to read the answers.
- Supply the correct answers.
- Call some pairs to practice the dialogues. 
¯ Activity 2:
- Ask students to look at the pictures.
- Ask questions.
 a. Who are they in the pictures?
 b. Where are they?
 c. What are they doing?
- Supply some words and phrases in the listening exercises : ready ª be ready, hurry ª you must hurry, do you have the time? = what’s the time?
- Play the tape for students ( twice or three times)
- Ask students to give the answers.
- Supply the correct answers: c – b – d – a.
 Post –listening. 
- Ask students to choose one of the four pictures to role play.
- Have students write the tapescript.
- Read the text.
- Answer the questions. 
- Look at the pictures and answer the questions. 
- Listen to the teacher. 
- Listen to the tape 
- Pair works. 
- Read the words in the box.
- Listen to the teacher. 
- Listen to the tape and fill in the gaps.
- Read the answers.
 a/ How are you? – Pretty good – How about you? – Not bad – Me, too.
 b/ How is everything? – OK – How are you today? – Just fine – So am I 
- Practice the dialogues. 
- Look at the pictures and answer the questions. 
- Listen and write. 
- Listen to the tape 
- Read the answers.
- Pair works. 
- Write the dialogues. 
Homework
 1. Learn by heart the greetings in the Unit 1.
 2. Do exercises A 3,4 / p.4 (workbook)
 3. Prepare B 1,2.
