LESSON 4: A CHECK UP (B3)

A.Objectives:

 I. Knowledge: By the end of the lesson Ss will be able to:

 + Fill in the grid with the day’s absence because of common sickness in the class 7A last semester.

+ Make the survey of the days lost in the class due to the sickness.

+ Improve the skill of communication when asking about the health.

 II.Skills:- Listening, speaking, writing.

 III.Teaching aids: -Some posters, a cassette player, a tape, an OHP and some survey sheets.

B.Procedures:

 I.Settlement: - Checking Ss’ attendance

 - Introducing the examiner to students.

 II.Cheching: - Warm - up: Matching (Match the pictures of common sickness with their names; cold, flu, stomachache, headache, and toothache.)

 - T leads in the new lesson.

A.Objectives:
	I. Knowledge: By the end of the lesson Ss will be able to:

Activity 1: Pre teach:
1. days’ absence (n) : ngày vắng (example)
2. due to (pre): vì (example)
3. to account for: chiếm khoảng (drawing)
4. total of (n): tổng cộng (drawing)
* Checking vocabulary: slap the board
Activity 2: Guessing 
- T requires Ss to guess the days’ absence of the class 7A due to the sickness.
II. While listening
Activity 3: Gap - fill
- Tplays the tape first time.
- Tplays the tape again.
- T plays the tape for more time.
- T calls Ss to answer individually.
- T fills the numbers in the poster. T may explain some new words in the text then plays the tape for the last time.
Activity 4: Retelling
- T calls some Ss in the class to retell the numbers of days lost of the class 7A last semester.
III. Post listening
Activity 4: Survey

- T delieves the survey sheets to students.
- T explains how to make a survey.
- T modelizes the dialogue.
- T nominates some group to announce their result in the class.
- T may correct and comment.
- Ss repeat after T.
- Ss may answer T’quetions.
- Ss copy down.
- Ss slap the word they’ve learned.
- Ss draw the grid in their notebooks.
- Ss guess the days lost because of each sickness.
- Ss listen to the text, Ss may fill the numbers of days lost if possible.
- Ss may have finished their listening.
Ss compare their result with their partners.
- Ss listen to the tape again and finish their listening.
- Ss answer the numbers days lost of each sickness.
- Ss write down and listen again.
Ss retell the numbers of days’absence of the class 7A last semester.
For example: Last semester class 7A had 10 days’ absence due to cold, 43 due to flu, ect. 
- Ss receive the sheets.
Ss listen to T and choose their partner.
Expected answer: cold:10, flu: 43; stomachache: 37; toothache: 17; headache: 5; total:112
Model sentences:
Sa: Did you have a cold/ flu/ stomachache/ headache/ toothache last semester?
Sb: Yes, I did/ No, I didn’t.
Sa: How many days did you have?
Sb: ....../ ..../ ..... ect days.
IV.Consolidation:
-Let Ss rermember the common sickness.
V. Homework:
 - Learn new words by heart.
	- Do exercises 3, 4 in Exercisebook 7.
