Ask Ss to look at the pictures and answer the questions :
+ Look at balloon 1 : Lan wasnot there . She was absent . What do you think Mr. Tan is asking Lan? What was wrong with her ? ( look at balloon 2 ) 
Ask Ss to read the dialogue and answer the questions .
Call on some Ss to answer the questions in front of the class .
Have Ss listen to the tape and look at the books then check the answers. 
Have Ss read the dialogue in pairs .
Call on some pairs to practice the dialogue in front of the class.
