Pre-speaking Activity 1: Pre-teach - to call: gọi - to be back: trở về - at the moment = now: lúc nay - sweet = candy - to last: kéo dài * Language targets: - Who’s calling? This statement is used when first answering on the phone. Ex: A: Who’s calling: B: It’s me, Tom. - She’s out at the moment = She has gone out now. 2. Language presentation T asks Ss to look at the pictures and answer 1. Who are they speaking in the dialogue A6? 2. What are they talking about 3. Activity2: Prediction: T requires SS to guess which below statements are true or false: 1. Han is calling./2. Phong is answering the phone. 3. Lan is out at the moment./4. Lan’s sister, Han is answering the phone. II. While speaking Activity 3: Lucky numbers. 1. LN /2. When will she come back? 3. Who is calling? /4. LN /5. LN 6. Who is answering the telephone? /7. LN 8. When will Phong call her again? 9. Who are they talking about? Activity 4: Word cued drill: T asks Ss to fill in the gaps with the suitable words (phrases) A: Hello. This is 053. 7777 214 B: Hello. Is that Ba? A: Yes. .......................? B: This is Phong. I would like you to go swimming? A. Yes I’d love to. But When? B: Tomorrow. A: OK. I .......... ................ you at six o’clock. III. Post - speaking Activity 5: Listening T asks Ss to listen the dialogue between Nga and Lan the fill the information to the gaps. T calls some Ss to answer. T plays more time for Ss to check their answers. Ss' activities Ss guess its meaning Ss take note Ss read chorally Ss read individually Ss listen and repeat Ss read in group and in pairs Ss give more examples. Ss practise with partners. Ss skim at the dialogue then answer the questions beside. Ss choose the true/ false staetements. Ss listen to the dialogue then check their predictions. Expected answers: 2.
