Lesson: A. What a lovely home! (A2, A4)

I. AIMS AND OBJECTIVES:

 * Language content:

 - To introduce some more new words relating to complaints and compliments.

 - To introduce exclamatory sentences beginning with “What .”

 * Language function:

 - By the end of the lesson, the students will be able to name some furniture in their house and know to express their motion through exclamations.

 * Educational aim:

 - To make the students aware of importance of expressing emotion through exclamations.

 1. Language:

 a. Vocabulary: wet, boring, great, interesting, delicious, restaurant

 b. Structures: Exclamations: “What + a/ an + Adj + Noun(sing)!

 - What + Adj + Noun (pl)!

Lesson: A. What a lovely home! (A2, A4)
I. AIMS AND OBJECTIVES:
	* Language content:
	- To introduce some more new words relating to complaints and compliments.
	- To introduce exclamatory sentences beginning with “What.”
	* Language function:
	- By the end of the lesson, the students will be able to name some furniture in their house and know to express their motion through exclamations.
	* Educational aim: 
	- To make the students aware of importance of expressing emotion through exclamations.
	1. Language:
	 	a. Vocabulary: wet, boring, great, interesting, delicious, restaurant
	b. Structures: Exclamations: “What + a/ an + Adj + Noun(sing)!
	- What + Adj + Noun (pl)!
	2. Skills: Integrated skills (focus on writing)
	3. Educational factor:
	- Knowing to how to describe furniture in house and using exclamations to express emotion.
II. TEACHER AND STUDENTS’ PREPARATION:
	1. Method: Communicative approach
	2. Techniques: Explanation, Question-	Answer, Repetition, Miming, Picture- cues, Games
 	3. Materials needed: Textbooks, Reference books, Sub boards,
	4. Students’ preparation: Find out new words and structures.
	5. Previous exercises: Exercise 1 on page 13 in workbook.
III. PROCEDURES IN CLASS:
	1. Stabilization: (1 m)
	a. Warm-up: Greetings: - Good afternoon, class!
	 - How are you?
	b. Checking attendance: Who’s absent today?
	2. Checking the previous knowledge: (4 ms)
	* Questions: - Asks two Ss to go to the board practice the dialogue A1 and answer the questions:
	a) Which rooms do Hoa and Lan talk about?
	b) Why does Lan like Hoa’s room?
	c) How many room are there in your house? 
	d) What things are there in your kitchen?	
	 * The keys to the questions:
	- Practice the dialogue then answer the questions:
	a) living room, bathroom, Hoa’s/ bed room, kitchen.
	b) Because it is bright and it has nice colors: white and pink.
	c&d) Ss’ answers.

I. LEAD- IN:
- Has Ss look at the picture and answer the questions:
+ How much does the dress cost?
+ Is it cheap or expensive?
- Reminds Ss of exclamations: “what an expensive dress!” and then leads to the new lesson.
II. PRE-WRITING:
Ø Pre- teaches new words:
- restaurant ['restrɔnt] (n) (explanation)
- wet [wet] (adj) (explanation)
- boring ['bɔ:riη] (adj) (explanation)
- interesting ['intristiη] (adj) (antonym)
- great [greit] (adj) (example)
- delicious [di'li∫əs] (adj) (explanation)
Ø Checks their understanding of new words by game “matching”.
Ø Revises the exclamations:
a) Complaints:
Ex: What an expensive dress!
b) Compliments:
Ex: What a great party!
What + a/ an + adj + N (sing; countable)!
* Expand: 
What + adj + N (pl)!
Ex: What modern rooms!
- Has Ss give more examples.
III. WHILE-WRITING:
A2. Write exclamations:
- Explains the request of the exercise.
- Asks them to write the complaints and compliments.
- Has them compare their answers with their partners.
- Gets Ss to write their exclamations on the board.
- Gets comments from others.
- Corrects mistakes and supplies the key.
* A4. Play with words:
- Plays the tape twice and guides Ss to repeat the poem.
IV. POST-WRITING:
- Asks Ss to make exclamations with your friends.
- Calls some students to read their exclamations aloud.
- Comments and corrects mistakes.
* Asks Ss to write exclamations for given words.
