What are you going to do in the second semester? B. Presentation: The simple past tense Formation: With the verb “to be” : (+) S + was/ were + O. (-) S + wasn’t/ weren’t + O. (?) Was/ Were + S + O ? With base verb: (+) S + V-ed + O. (-) S + didn’t + V + O. (?) Did + S + V + O ? Usage - to express an action that completely finished in the past. - always goes with adverbs of time such as: yesterday, last + night/ week/ month/ year..., ago. How to speak the suffix –ed- - /t/ : khi động từ kết thúc bằng âm phụ âm vô thanh. ex: walk → walked, laugh → laughed... - /d/: khi động từ kết thúc bằng phụ âm hữu thanh. ex: open → opened, learn → learned... - /id/: khi động từ kết thúc bằng phụ âm /t/ và /d/ ex: start → started, decide → decided... Irregular verbs: có khoảng hơn 200 từ bất quy tắc phải học thuộc lòng, hoặc tra ở cột 2 trong bảng động từ bất quy tắc. - ask Ss to listen the tape to reorder sentences. - play the tape again to give the correct order and explain phrases. ...3... Her parents went to the aquarium with her. They saw sharks, dolphins, turtles and many different types of fish. They bought a cap and a poster. Yes, she did. Liz wore the cap all day. Yes, they ate fish and crab. Mr. Robinson bought Liz a cap with a picture of a dolphin on it. Mrs Robinson bought a poster. After their visit to Tri Nguyen Aquarium, the Robinsons went to a food stall.
