PROCEDURES: Teacher’s activities Students’ activities 1. Warm – Up: (5’) Have students play game: “Slap the board” underline revision meaning tongue stick learn study escape burn 2. Pre – Reading: (5’) - Chat with Ss about their learning English: a. Do you like to learn English vocabulary? b. How many words do you try to learn every day? c. What do you do when you meet a new word? d. How do you learn / remember new words? - Have Ss do ordering in pairs. - Play the tape for 3 times. - Pre-teach vocabulary. 1. Mother tongue (n): 2. Stick (v): 3. Come across (v) 4. Underline (v): 5. Highlight (v): 6. Revise (v): ª Revision (n): - Have Ss practice new words. 3. While – Reading: (20’) - Ask Ss to read the text silently. - Call some Ss to read the text aloud. - Correct the mistakes - Ask Ss to predict True or False. - Ask Ss to work in groups to say some ways to learn English vocabulary. Ex: “ I make a list of words with their meanings and learn them by heart. I also reads stories in English to develop my vocabulary” - Call some Ss to give ideas 4. Post – Reading: (13’) - Ask Ss to summarize the text. - Call some Ss retell the main idea. - Correct. 5. Homework: (2’) - Reread the text. - Learn by heart the vocabulary. - Prepare next lesson: Unit 5: Read (exercise 2)/ p 50. - Group works. - Answer the questions. - Pair works. - Listen to the tape. - Listen and write. - Practice new words. - Read. - Read aloud in front of class. - Listen - Work in individual. - Pair works. - Give ideas - Group works. - Retell again. - Listen.
