Ask Ss to complete the sentence, using some of the words from the matching exercise above. Lan has a (1) ..voice and she usually speaks (2) ... (1) : soft / good / bad (2) : softly / well / badly - Help Ss distinguish the use of adjectives and adverbs * Form: 1. S + V + A/AN + ADJECTIVE + NOUN S + BE + ADJECTIVE 2. S + V + (O) + ADVERB - Ask Ss to complete the dialogues in pairs. - Have Ss give feedback. a. well b. hard c. fast d. badly e. softly - Ask Ss to practice the dialogues in pairs. b. Exercise 2: Reporting a command - Set the scene: “Tim’s mother went to the school and met his form teacher, Miss Jackson. Miss Jackson told his mother something about his study” * Form: Reporting a command or a request: S + ask/ tell + someone + to do something Reporting an advice S + say + someone + should do something - Ask questions: 1. What did Miss Jackson say to Tim’s mother? 2. What did Tim’s mother report them to Tim? ¯ Answers: 1. “Can you give Tim this dictionary? “Tim should work harder on his Spanish pronunciation” 2. “Miss Jackson asked me to give you this dictionary” “ Miss Jackson said you should work harder on your Spanish pronunciation” - Ask Ss to do the exercise 3 / p.53. - Ask Ss to give feedback. a. Miss Jackson asked me to wait outside her office. b. Miss Jackson told me to give you your report card for this semester. c. Miss Jackson asked me to help you with your pronunciation. d. Miss Jackson told me to meet her next week. c. Exercise 3: Reporting an advice - Ask Ss to work in pairs to do the exercise 4/ p.53. - Ask Ss to give feedback. a.
