 I. OBJECTIVES:
 Teaching aims: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
	- Obtain some knowledge about some scenic spots in the USA.
	- Develop their reading skill.
 II. PREPARATIONS: Book, cassette tape, pictures

1. Warm – Up: (5’)
- Have students work in pairs to write as many famous places in the world as they could.

2. Pre-Reading: (10’)
 - Hand out photocopied pictures of some scenic spots in the USA and their corresponding paragraphs and ask students to match them correctly.
- Explain vocabulary: 
 + volcano (n) 
 + lava (n) 
+ overhead (adv) 
+ pour out 
+ carve (v) 
+ prison (n)
+ be situated (v) 
+ Wharf (n) 
- Check vocabulary : “Rub Out and Remember”.
2.While-Reading: (20’)
- Ask students to read the texts silently to do the exercise 1.
