 LESSON 6: LANGUAGE FOCUS
I. OBJECTIVES:
Teaching aim: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
	- Talk about activities using Past Progressive and Present Progressive with “always”

1. Warm – Up: (5’)
- Have students play game: “ Rub out and remember” about irregular verbs: made, slept, read, won, forgot, came, took, wrote 
2. Exercises: (35’)
a/ Exercise 1: Past progressive tense
- Give example:
I was watching TV at 8 pm yesterday.
- Have students match pictures and phrases correctly.
1. walk with a dog
2. eat dinner
3. take a shower
4. talk to Grandma
5. read a book
6. write a letter
Picture a + 3 , Picture b + 2 , Picture c + 5
Picture d + 6 , Picture e + 1 , Picture f + 4
- Have students look at the picture a and answer the question.
“What was Ba doing at 8 o’clock last night?”
[“Ba was taking a shower at 8 o’clock last night.”
- Show the cardboards and go through the verbs.
1. Ba / take a shower.
2. Hoa / eat dinner.
3. Bao / read a book.
4. Nga / write a letter.
5. Na / walk with her dog.
6. Lan / talk to her Grandma.
Or Lan and her Grandma / talk to each other.
- Ask the students work through the rest of the cues.
- Call some students to read the complete sentences.
b. Exercise 2: Past progressive tense with while and when
- Explain new words:

- Ask students to look carefully at the pictures on the page 119 and do the matching on the page 120.
- Call some students to give feedback.

- Have students match column A with B.

c. Exercise 3: Progressive tense with always
- Explain the grammar point:
 am / is / are + always + V-ing.
- Ask students to look at the pictures, and write sentence
a. Bao is always forgetting his homework.
b. Mrs. Nga is always losing her umbrella.
c. Mr. and Mrs. Thanh are always missing the bus.
d. Nam is always watching TV.
e. Na is always talking on the phone.
f. Liem is always going out.
3. Consolidation: (3’)
- Have students remind of the past and present progressive tenses.
- Ask students to make examples for each use.
