PROCEDURES: Teacher’s activities Students’ activities 1. Warm – Up: (5’) - Have students write “NETWORK” Ways language learners learn new words 2. Pre – Writing: (10’) - Ask question: How do you learn English words? - Ask students some questions dealing with writing letters. a. Do you often write a letter to someone? b. Who do you often write to? c. What do you often write about? - Ask students to put the parts of the letter in the correct order. a. Opening b. Closing c. The date d. Body of the letter e. Signature f. Writer’s address - Ask students to read the letter on the page 51 to check their order. 1.f , 2.c , 3.a , 4.d , 5.b , 6.e - Ask students to label each section with the correct letter ( Play the game “WE WRITE LETTERS” ) 1. B , 2.D , 3.A , 4.C - Pre-teach new vocabulary: + Enjoyable (adj) + Result (n) + Lunar New Year Festival (n) + Celebrate (v) 3. While – Writing: (15’) - Let students read the letter silently. - Ask comprehension questions. 1. Who wrote the letter? To whom? 2. What did Hoa receive a few days ago? 3. What subjects did she get good grades for? 4. Is she good at Math? 5. What did her math teacher ask her to do? 6. Where is she going to celebrate the Lunar New Year Festival? - Ask students to give feedback. - Ask students to do the exercise 2 on the page 52. - Call two students to exhibit their answer on the board. - Correct the mistakes.
