OBJECTIVES: Teaching aims: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to ask for favors and respond to favors, develop speaking skill. II. PREPARATIONS:Book, cassette tape III. PROCEDURES: Teacher’s activities Students’ activities 1. Warm – Up: (5’) - Have students write the “Jumbled word”: AVRFO ð FAVOR - Ask students the meaning of the word: FAVOR 2. Pre – Speaking: (8’) - Set the scene: You are carrying a heavy bag, but you have hurt your arm so you need some help. How do you ask for a favor? And what are the responses? ð Possible answers: Could you help me to carry me bag? Can you carry this bag foe me, please? I’ve hurt my arm. Can you help me carry my bag? ð Responses: Certainly / Of course / Sure / No problem/ - Have students look at and read the phrases in the boxes on the page 55. 3. While – Speaking: (15’) - Ask students to practice the dialogue a in pairs. - Supply students some cues to practice. 1. turn on the light for me. 2. empty the waste-basket. 3. buy a ticket for me. 4. take me across the road. 5. water the flowers in the garden. - Call some pairs practice before the class. - Set the scene: A receptionist wants to help a tourist who needs to go to the nearest bank. How can you say to offer him assistance? And what are the responses? ð May I help you? Do you need any help? Let me help you. ð Responses: Acceptance: Yes. That’s very kind of you Thank you very much. Refusal: No. Thank you. I’m fine. - Have Ss look at and read the phrases in the boxes on the page 55. - Have Ss practice the dialogue b in pairs on the page 55. - Ask Ss to use the phrases in the box on the page 56 to practice in pairs. - Call some pairs to practice before the class. 4. Post – Speaking: (15’) - Ask Ss to write some dialogues on the board. - Correct mistakes if necessary. - Ask Ss to tell some popular Y & Y programs in Viet Nam. Possible answers: + collect waste paper + help blind people + help handicapped / street children + help elderly people + clean up the streets + plant trees and flowers + take part in cultural-sports activities. 5.
