1. To be was I, he , she. it
 were we, you , they
Ex:

2. Regular verbs.

B. Exercises:
I. 1/p5 (VBT): Put the verbs in brackets in the past simple.

A. Grammar
I. Past simple with wish.
 Form: S + wish(-es) + S + V(past subjunctive) + O/A.
* Past subjunctive (Qu¸ khø bµng th¸i): Cã d¹ng gièng th× qu¸ khø ®¬n, riªng ®éng tõ tõ “be” chØ cã 1 d¹ng duy nhÊt lµ “were”.
Ex:

I wish I (have) had a good memory.
*
He doesn’t know many languages.
 He wishes he knew more languages.

What a pity! I can’t go to your party.
 I wish I could go to your party.

* C¸ch dïng: 
- Dïng ®Ó diÔn t¶ ­íc muèn 1 t×nh huèng kh«ng cã thËt ë hiÖn t¹i.
- DiÔn t¶ sù hèi tiÕc vÒ 1 t×nh huèng ë hiÖn t¹i mµ b¹n muèn thay ®æi.
- DiÔn t¶ hµnh ®éng t­¬ng lai.
Ex: I wish you would come to my house.
II. Used to + V.( §· tõng): Dïng ®Ó diÔn t¶ 1 thãi quen trong qu¸ khø mµ nay kh«ng cßn.
(+) S + used to + V + O/A.
(-) S + didn’t use to + V +O/V.

- DiÔn t¶ hµnh ®éng, sù viÖc ®ang x¶y ra t¹i 1 thêi ®iÓm x¸c ®Þnh trong qu¸ khø.
Ex: At this time yesterday, They (watch) were watching television.
- DiÔn t¶ 1 sù kiÖn ®ang diÔn ra th× bÊt chît sù kiÖn kh¸c x¶y ®Õn ë qu¸ khø.
Ex: Lan (enjoy) enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere while Maryam (spray) was spraying.
- DiÔn t¶ 2 hay nhiÒu sù kiÖn x¶y ra cïng lóc – song song- ë qu¸ khø.

Khi chñ ng÷ trong c©u chñ ®éng lµ: people, someone, somebody, every one, they, nobody, every body, .th× khi chuyÓn sang c©u bÞ ®éng ta bá “ by O”.
L­u ý tr­êng hîp chñ ng÷ mang nghÜa phñ ®Þnh. (nobody, no one)
Ex: Nobody told me that our teacher was sick.
 I wasn’t told that our teacher was sick.
