 A balanced diet
 We know that the food we eat affects our 
 whole life. For example, there is sugar in 
 many kinds of food. It adds taste to food. 
 Sugar is not an unhealthy food. We need 
 sugar to live. In moderate amounts, it is 
 good for you. It gives you energy and you

 But we must remember to eat sensibly. We 
 should have a balanced diet. We should:
 eat a moderate amount of fatty food and 
 sugar.
 eat some body-building foods, like meat and 
 dairy products.

 What does a ‘balanced diet' mean? It means 
 you eat a variety of foods without eating too 
 much of anything. Moderation is very 
 important. Eat the food you enjoy, but don’t 
 have too much. This will help you stay fit 
 and healthy. Don't forget about exercise 
 either! We all need exercise. Follow these 
 guidelines and enjoy the food you eat - that 
 is the key to a healthy lifestyle. New words:
1. Unhealthy food (n) - Thức ăn không bỗ dưỡng
2. Moderate amounts: - Lượng thức ăn hợp lý, vừa phải. 
3. Energy (n): - Năng lượng
4. Balance diet : - Chế độ ăn uống hợp lý
5. Fatty food - Thức ăn giàu chất béo
6. Body building food: - Thức ăn giúp phát triển cơ bắp
7. Dairy products: - Thực phẩm bơ, sữa
8. A variety of: - Đa dạng, nhiều loại
9. Cereal (n) - Ngũ cốc
10. affect (v) - làm ảnh hưởng đến

 a) Name two advantages of eating sugar.
 => Eating sugar in moderate amounts can give us energy 
 and make you feel less hungry.
 b) Is a balanced diet alone enough for a healthy lifestyle? 
Why?/Why not?
=> No, because we all need exercise. Doing exercise 
regularly helps us stay fit and healthy.
 c) Do you think your diet is balanced? Why?/Why not?
 => Yes, I think I have a balanced diet because I eat variety of 
food in moderate amounts. • Some ways to prevent the disease from unhealthy 
 food , and the bad habits.
- Wash the food carefully.
- Eat the fresh food.
- Eat the ripe food.
- Eat the food sensibly.
- Stop eating sweet.
