Getting started:
T gives out the photo of Nha Trang, asks some questions to get Ss’ involved into the lesson:
Do you know this place? Where is it?
What do you know about this resort site? 
Do you want to spend your holiday there?
Ss answers the questions, T will not correct the sentences but let Ss give their own opinions and their knowledge about Nha Trang. T can also give out any new information.
E.g. : The longest cable car over the sea in the world was built last year in NT.
New language:
a. Vocabulary:
T presents the situation of the dialogue:
 “ Liz and her family have just come back from their holiday to Nha Trang, and Liz is talking to Ba about her trip”.
T plays the tapes for the first time, Ss listen and read the dialogue, then underline the new words that they see in the dialogue.
T can explains by using pictures and give the clear explanation.

a. Practice the dialogue:
T plays the tape again, Ss listen and read along silently. Then in pairs, Ss practice the dialogue. T goes around to help Ss with the pronunciation if necessary.
T calls some pairs to practice aloud, T corrects the mistakes if any. T pays attention to the pronunciation of the simple past verbs.
b. Number the sentences:
Ss read the dialogue again to number the sentences at the page 86. Ss can exchange their answers with their partners to compare. T goes around to help and control the activity.

Complete the sentences:
SS work in pairs to find the correct form of the verbs to fill in the blanks:

Answers: went – bought – had – did.
Ss make some more sentences to tell their partner about things they did yesterday, for example: get up at 6.00, go to school at 7.00, watch TV, etc.

Ss answers the questions, using information in the dialogue. T can also help Ss if they can’t remember all.
New language:
a. Vocabulary:
T presents the passage:
 “ This is a passage about Liz’s trip to Nha Trang. Listen and read the passage then answer the questions”.
T asks Ss to skim the passage and find out the new words. T can check if Ss have prepared the new words at home by writing the words on bb and asking them what the words mean.
T can explains by using pictures and give the clear explanation in case Ss can not understand the meaning of the words (in the situation of the reading).

Answer the questions:
T plays the tape, Ss listen to the tape and read along silently then answer the questions at page 88.
Ss exchange their answers to compare, T goes around to help the weaker Ss.
T calls Ss to go to bb and write their answers, then asks the class to give remarks on their friends’ work. T corrects after all.
Answers:

Tell the story of Liz’s trip to the aquarium:
SS look at the pictures, T can ask some questions about the pictures to check if Ss know what they are going to talk about:
Where is this place?
What can you see in the 2nd picture?
Ss write the sentences, begin with the example sentence:
 a) The Robinson went to the aquarium
Ss exchange their sentences to compare. Then T asks some Ss t stand up and tell the story again. T corrects the mistakes if any.
The story can be like this:
The Robinson went to the aquarium
They saw sharks, dolphins, turtles and many colorful fish.
There were a souvenir shop near the exit of the aquarium.
Mr. Robinson bought Liz a cap with a picture of a dolphin on it. Mrs. Robinson bought a poster.
After that, they went to a food stall for lunch, Mr. and Mrs. Robinson ate crabs and fish, Liz ate noodles.
Ss rewrite the sentences about Liz’s trip.
Learn the irregular verbs buy heart, pay attention to the way they make question.

Pre - activity:
T presents the situation of the listening : The trip to Nha Trang of Liz’s family.
T presents the statements and asks Ss to check (ü) the sentences they think may be true.
Ss read the couple of sentences a – b, c – d, e – f, g – h, i – j and choose one of the two sentences to check, T goes around to control the activity and help weak Ss.
While - activity:
T plays the tape, Ss listen and check the sentences they hear. T pauses after each time listening and check if there are any true answers.
T plays the tape for the last time and corrects all the exercise:

SS read the page in Ba’s diary about Liz, underline the new words, T spend a short time to explain the meaning of those new words. Then Ss practice reading the new words.

Liz lives next door to Ba.
Liz learns Vietnamese in Vietnam.

The Robinsons moved. Now Ba is sad.
Ba will see Liz next week.
Ss rewrite the full story about Liz’s trip to Nha Trang.

Play the roles :
a. Thomas Edison:
T asks Ss to work in pairs, one plays the role of Mr. Thomas Edison, the other is a newspaper reporter.
The reporters should ask as many questions as they want, Thomas Edison should use the information in the passage to answer. Follow the example:

B: I was born in 1847
A: Were you born in America?
B: Yes, I was.
b. Hans Christian Andersen:
T asks Ss to work in pairs again, but change the role: one is Mr. Hans Christian Andersen, the other is a newspaper reporter. Follow the example of the previous section.
T asks some pairs to stand up and practice their interview aloud, T should not pay much attention to the correction of pronunciation but the fluency.
Listen :
T asks Ss to look at the picture of Uncle Ho, then work in groups of 8 to make his simple autography.
T presents the table which summarize Uncle Ho’s life and career. Ask Ss to complete the table before listening to the tape
T plays the tape, Ss listen and complete their exercise, Ss can exchange their listening result to compare.

Ss prepare the next lesson as the Written Test of the 2nd semester.
