Teaching aims: - By the end of the lesson Ss will be able to practise talking about life in the past and that at present. Listen and understand a moral lesson from the tape B. Greetings/ Checking attendance: II. Warm-up/ Review: - Revision: have Ss practise the dialogue again and check comprehension. III. New lesson: Teacher's activities Students' activities A. Speaking I. Pre-speaking: - Show the two pictures and get Ss to find the difference. - Feedback the difference. II. While- speaking: - Have Ss practice saying the sentences using used to + V(inf) - Feedback the answers - Call on some Ss to talk about the changes. Activity 2: - Get Ss to tell their partners about the things they used to do last year. Eg: Last year I used to get up late, but now I get up early and go jogging. III. Post-speaking: Word- cue drill 1. Swim/river/swimming pools 2. Walk/motorbike,car 3. Get up early/late 4. Play hide and seek/computer games B. Listening I. Pre-listening: 1. Pre-teach vocab: (use pictures and realia) foolish (adj) greedy (adj) gold (n) lay (v) in amazement - Elicit and drill the vocab chorally ® individually. - Check vocab (R.O.R) 2. Prediction: - Get Ss to predict the suitable moral lesson for the stories. - Feedback the moral lesson. II. While-listening: - Play the tape and ask Ss to listen and check. - Elicit the answer. - Replay the tape and get ss to take notes. - Call on some Ss to retell the stories in their own words. - Identify the difference in groups. Eg: work in the fields, work in offices, walk, travel by car, motorbike, live in small cottages, live in high buildings - Practise saying the sentences in groups In the past, people used to work in the fields and live in small cottages., but now they work in offices and live in high buildings Last year, I used to go to school on the morning, but now I go to school in the afternoon. We used to swim in the river, but now we swim in the swimming pools - Practise saying the vocab and rewrite the words. - Predict and give the answer. - listen and check the prediction. b. Don't be foolish and greedy. - Take notes - Retell the story Once, a famer lived with his wife. They haad a lot of chickens IV.
