 Lesson 1: A 1, 4 (P.10,12)
I. Aims:
 By the end of the lesson, Students will be able to know again how to greet each other , introduce others and identify oneself.
 - Developing listening, speaking and writing skills.
 - Structures: - Nice to see you again.
 - This is our new classmate. Nice to meet you. 
 - So am I.
 - Teaching aids: role play cards, pictrures, cassette recorder + tape.
 - Anticipated problems:
II. Procedures - Presentation of new lesson.
 1. Warm up.
 - Greetings.
 - T. comes to the class and says: “ Good morning, Welcome back to school. I’m Oanh. I’m your English teacher this year. Nice to meet you.” 
 - T. asks some Ss to say back as T. did. “ Good morning, Welcome back to school. I’m ............ Nice to meet you, too.”
 Then teacher says “ Back to school” is the title of the unit 1 and writes it on the board. T. asks Ss to guess the meaning of the title.
 2. Vocabulary.

 - Nice (adj) = glad. (synonym) vui mõng, ®Ñp , hay, tèt

 Checking: Slap the board.
 3. Presentation
 - Ss look at the picture and listen the dialogue (a) in the book. Then answer the following questions. Who are talking in the dialogue? Whom of them did you know last year? Whom of them haven’t you known? ( T. can make questions in Viet namese ).
 - T. gets Ss to find out new structures and their function in the dialogue (a).
 - Ss listen and follow in the book then answer the following questions.
 What are Nga, Ba and Hoa talking? -> They greet one another.
 - T. writes the structures on the board while Ss answer.
 Nga: Hi, Ba. Nice to see you again.
 Ba: Nice to see you,too.
 - Why does Nga say “ Nice to see you again”to Ba?
 - Do people say “Nice to see you again” when they are their new friends every day?
 - What does Nam say to Hoa? T. writes structures on the board while Ss answer.
 Nga: This is our classmate. Her name’s Hoa.
 Ba: Nice to meet you, Hoa. My name’s Nam.
 Hoa: Nice to meet you, too.
- What are there differences between Nga, Ba’s way of greeting and Ba , Hoa’s? Why are there these differences? ( Nga and Ba are friends haven’t seen each other after a long summer vacation and now they are back to school./ Nam wants to make friends with Hoa a new student and Hoa does, too.)
 - T. gets Ss to find out structures and their function in the dialogues. 
 Form: Nice to see you again.
 Nice to meet you.
 - Ss listen and follow in the book then answer the questions.
 - What are Nam and Hoa talking? What does Nam ask Hoa?
 - T. writes new structures on the board while Ss answer.
 Nam: Are you a new student?
 Hoa: Yes, I’m. I’m in class 7A.
 Nam: Oh, so am I.
 - T. explains the way to identify oneself then asks Ss to guess the meaning.
 - Controlled practice in groups. Role play (a,b)
 - Recreate the situation (a,b) - Practice (A4) Gap - fill -> pair works.
Keys: a. How are you?/ Pretty good. / How about you? / Not bad. / Me,too.
 b. How is everything? / OK. / How are you to day? /Just fine. / So am I.
* Consolidation: What structures do you use to greer your old friends after along time not to see him / her? How do you interact with a person when you meet at the first time and you want to make friends with?

 4. While - reading
- 1st reading: Ask Ss to read silently and check their answers.
- 2nd reading: Ss read silently once more and give the correct answers.
 * Review quantifiers and coparatives.
 + Quantifiers: Ss find out quantifiers in the passage. 
 Alot of / lots of, many, any, (some, much, few) . 
 + Comparatives: T. asks a question: 
 How is Hoa’s new school? ( ... bigger than...)
 From the answer T. gets Ss to recognise “comparatives”.

- T. shows some pairs of objects: old and new books, long and short rulers, pretty and ugly dolls, ect and asks Ss to make sentences comparatives.

 Hoa feels sad because she misses her parents and old friends./ Hoa comes from Hue./ She has a few new friends in Ha noi./ Now she stays at her uncle and aunt’s house in Ha noi to study./ Her new school has more students than her old school./ They are Ba, Nga and Nam./ Her old school is different from her new school. It is smaller than that new one./

 - T. shows the picture with some key words around it then gets Ss to talk somethings about Hoa.
 * Consolidation: Questions - answers and Ss do some exercises.
