Checking the old lesson (5') - Call on two Ss to tell the story about Lan. - Call on two other Ss to do exercise 3 (page 72) * Key: Depend on ss' answer * Way of checking: Writing + Speaking * Remark and give marks III. Vocabulary. - a semester: häc kú (explanation) - flu: bÖnh c¶m cóm (explanation) - (to) be absent from: v¾ng mÆt (explanation) - absence (n) : sù v¾ng mÆt - due to = because of : v×, do (synonym) * Checking vocabulary: R.O.R b. Open prediction. - Set the scence? Did you ever have to stay at home last semester ? Why? ? What happened to you? ? How many days were you absent from the class? - Have Ss copy the table in their notebook. - Ask them to predict days lost due to sickness in class 7A last semester. - Feed back Ss ' prediction. a. Complete the table - Have Ss listen to the tape carefully to complete the table/ correct their prediction (Listen twice ) - Feed back Ss ' answers. - Get them to listen again to check. Key: cold : 10 headache : 5 flu : 43 toothache : 17 stomachache : 37 total days lost : 112 b. Delibrate mistakes - Have Ss listen to a text with some mistakes (7 mistakes) - If they hear a mistake, they will shout "wrong" and then correct it. Last semester in claas 7B, there was 115 days ' absence due to sickness. Most absence - 43 days - were due to headache. Then came stomachache with 33 days absence. Headache came next with 17 days. Cold accounted for 37 absence. Finally, headache caused 15 days ' absence. Survey ( B2 - page 111) - Get Ss to copy the table of B2, page 111 in their notebooks. - Have them work in groups of 4 : Ask their 3 friends some questions and complete the table. Example: S1: Were you absent from school last semester? S2: Yes, I was / No, I wasn't. S1: Did you have a toothache? S2: Yes, I did / No, I didn't. S1: What was the matter with you? S2: I had a ........ - Let Ss report about their groups. Ex. Last semester, in our group, Thanh was absent from school due to headache .... 3' 5' 5' 9' 7' 6' - Teacher -whole class - Listen and give the answers. - copy. - Read and write - Teacher - whole class - Speak out - Listen, check - Correct mistakes - Copy - Run through the text - Group work (groups of 4) IV.
