I. OBJECTIVES:
 After the lesson, Ss will be able to:

 1. Greetings.
 2. Warm up:
 T has Ss sing an English song.
 3. New lesson:
METHOD
CONTENT
T asks “ Can you give me the activities or organizations for Vietnamese teenager?”
Ss answer.
T asks “Do you know any activities or organizations for American teenager?”
Ss can answer in Vietnamese.
T introduces “In this lesson, you will study about the top ten most popular after-school activities in America.”
T sticks the pictures on the board and asks Ss to identify these activities.
T has Ss listen to the tape then find out the new words.
T asks Ss some words such as: scouts and guides,... And then, T explains these words to them.
Scout = boy scout, the Scouts = the Boy Scouts of America.
Guide = girl guide (BE), girl scout (AE).
T leads Ss to read.
T lets Ss read the passage and check the activities or organizations that they know.
T calls some Ss to answer aloud.
T lets Ss work in groups of four to brainstorm the activities that Vietnamese teenagers often do after school hours.
T lets them discuss and make a list of their top ten most favourite leisure activities.
T asks two representatives of the groups to report their list to the class.
T remarks and summarizes the most popular activities in Vietnam.
T asks: 
Do you usually do volunteer works? What are they?
Do you know what kinds of volunteer works do American children often do to help community?
T lets them read the text and guess the meaning of some words or phrases of words.
T explains the meaning of some words or phrases of words.
T asks Ss to discuss two questions in group of four.
T asks some representatives of the groups to report their answer to the class.
T remarks and corrects the mistakes if any.

4. Consolidation:
 T asks Ss to answer some questions:
Which of the activities in the list for American teenagers do you think are also popular among Vietnamese teenagers? (watch TV, listen to music, go to the movies, help old people..)
Are there many kinds of entertainment for teenagers in VietNam? What are they?
What organizations are there for teenagers in Vietnam?
(Young Pioneers or different kinds of clubs for children.)
 T asks Ss to do exercise: ( uses a sub board)
 Complete the passage, use the words given in the box
Coins, play, community, popular, what, going, music, or, scouts, help, enjoyment, restaurants.
A magazine survey of 13 years old show (1).. American teenagers like to do in their free time. Here are some most (2).. activities.
Eating in fast food (3).. is one of their favorite. Some young people attend youth organization such as (4).. and guides.
Many of them learn to (5).. a musical instrument.
Most of the young enjoy (6).. shopping. Watching television is also their (7).. Some like to go to the movies while others listen to (8).. Several of them collect things such as stamps or (9).. A few make models of things such as cars (10).. planes.
And there are many volunteers who (11).. old people with their shopping or cleaning. Teenagers are doing more (12)..
5. Homework:
 T asks Ss to:
Learn by heart the vocabulary.
Do exercise B2, B3 in workbook page 38.
Prepare period 37 (B3 + B5).
