Language content:
- To introduce the students some new words relating to places & some prepositions of positions.
Language function:
- To help the students ask & answer about the way to somewhere of some one.
- To give directions.
- To help the Ss how to use modal: Could.
Educational aim:
- To educate the students to help others who need go somewhere.

2. Structure:
- Could you tell me how to get there?
- Could you show me the way to the supermarket, please?
- Go straight ahead; take the second street on the left.

Could you show me the way to the supermarket, please? Go straight ahead; take the second street on the left. It’s opposite the post office. 3. Skills: Integrated skills. III. Teacher and students’ preparation: 1. Method: Communicative approach 2. Techniques: Repetition, Ask and answer, using picture. 3. Materials needed: Textbook, picture, and cassette. 4. Students’ preparation: Homework, new lesson, teaching aids. IV. Procedure in class: 1. Stabilization: (3ms) a. Warm – up: Makes greetings (Good morning, class./ How are you?) b. Checking absence: Asks the monitor: Who is absent today? 2. Checking – up previous knowledge: (5ms) Has one student listen to the short passage read by the teacher then say out: A. What is his name? - B. What does he do? – C. How old is he? D. How many hours a week does he work? – E. and the amount of vacation has he got? Keys to the questions: A: His name is Jack. B: He is an engineer. C: He is 45. D: 46. E: A-two-week vacation. 3. Presentation of the new material: TIME TEACHER’S ACTIVITIES STUDENTS’ ACTIVITIES CONTENT OF THE LESSON 5ms 8ms 15ms 7ms 3ms 1. Lead in: - Giving “nougats and crosses and lucky numbers” games. -Gives 6 pictures on the board and explains the way to play game. -Asks the class to divide into 2 groups. -Asks the Ss of each group to choose number then show the same picture & ask: what is the picture about? It’s National Bank of Vietnam. Saint Paul Hospital Sofitel Metro police Hotel The central post office Hanoi Railway Station Dong Xuan Market -Asks the Ss to repeat all names and has the Ss tell some places in their country (or town). -Asks them how to get there and the answers. Introduces the title and the aims of the new lesson through the pictures then answers. Who are talking in the dialogue? What does he want? Summaries the content of the two dialogues. 2. Pre-practice: Teaches new words: + tourist (n) explanation & picture + souvenir (n) ( example) Has the Ss read the dialogue in pairs. Makes the guided questions Where does the tourist want to go? Listen and repeat with the tape. Introduces some structures to ask & answer the places. Is there a souvenir shop near here? Could you tell me how to get there? Could you show me the way to the supermarket, please? Go straight ahead. Take the second street on the left. Leads the Ss to read main structures and explains the meaning of them. 3. Controlled –practice: +Has the Ss read the two dialogues in pairs about 3 minutes. + Calls on some Ss to read the dialogues in front of the class. + remarks the result. + Has them answer the questions: How can the tourist ask the way to the souvenir shop/ super market? How can Nga/ Lan reply? 4. Free-practice: + Gives the name of some places near your living. + requests the Ss to ask & give the directions to somewhere. + Calls on some couples to practice in front of the class (make new dialogues) 5. Consolidation: + Asks the Ss to read the dialogues again. + Reminds the main structures and the way to use them. + Consolidate some prepositions of position. -Look at & listen to the teacher’s explanation. Make the class into 2 groups Do as the teacher does Write in the notebooks Listen and repeat Listen to the aim of the lesson from the teacher. Look at the pictures & answer Listen to the teacher Listen & repeat then guess the meaning Read the dialogue after listening the tape Answer the question Listen & write main structures Write in your notebook Listen to the teacher the way to use & the meaning of the structures Work in pairs Role play in front of the class. Answer the teacher’ questions. Give name of some places near one’s houses. Ask & answer about the way to go somewhere Read 2 dialogues again Listen and read UNIT 8: PLACES Part A1, A2: ASKING THE WAY * Name the places National Bank of Vietnam. Saint Paul Hospital. Homework: (2ms) Has the Ss do the following things. + Write the lesson in the notebook + Read & translate 2 dialogues into Vietnamese. + Write at least 3 sentences about asking the way to somewhere & answer.
