- Ask pupils some questions:
- Teacher introduces all knowledge that pupils will learn in the lesson by asking them to retell the tenses that they learned. (Simple present; simple future; progressive tense) ® today you will learn simple past tense.
2. Presentation:
- Ask pupils some questions.
- Then teacher hangs picture of part A1 and go on asking them.
- Then teacher introduces: We are going to learn a conversation between Ba and Liz. They are talking about Liz's vacation in Nha Trang.
- Teacher reads the conversation once first. - Teacher introduces some new words.
- Guide pupils to get meaning of new words.
- Teacher reads new words once.
- Guide pupils to read new words twice or more.
- Get pupils reads new words in silence.

- Bình thường ta chỉ việc thêm ed.
Example:
- Help ® Helped
- Động từ nào tận cùng là e thì chỉ thêm d.
Example:
- Arrive ® Arrived
- Động từ nào tận cùng là Y. Nếu trước Y là nguyên âm thì ta thêm ed. Nếu trước Y la phụ âm thì ta chuyển Y ® i rồi thêm ed.
Example:

- Study ® Studied
+) Phụ âm ngay sát nguyên âm duy nhất ® gấp đôi phụ âm cuối lên rồi thêm ed.
