Activity 1. B1
- ask Ss to look at section B1- page 76.
- ask Ss to answer question: How many people are there in Tim’s family?
- play the tape first time and ask Ss to listen carefully.
- ask Ss to guess meaning of new words and phrases based on situation of this letter.
- ask Ss to read the text in silent to answer question from a- e.
- ask Ss to compare their work with partner.
- ask Ss to present their work in front of lass.
- give feedback and correct.
- give correct answer keys
Mrs John works at home. But three mornings a week she works part- time at a local supermarket.
She (together with other women) cooks lunch for homeless people once a week.
Mr John is a mechanic. He repairs machines in a factory.
He works about 40 hour a week.
The John family always goes to Florida on vacation. They have great time there.
- play the tape again and stop in each sentence to give the new words and phrases.

Pre- reading:
- ask Ss to look at section B2- page 77 to guess: What are their jobs? What are the daily duties of a farmer?
While- reading:
- ask Ss to read the text.
- give some new words and phrases:
feed: cho ăn
buffalo: trâu
pig: lợn
collect the eggs: thu nhặt trứng
grow rice: trồng lúa
buffalo shed: chuồng trâu
chicken coop: chuồng gà
real: thật, thực tế
- ask Ss to read the text aloud in front of class.
- ask Ss to read the text carefully to guess the main point of this text.
- check pronunciations.
- give feedback and correct.
4. Consolidation:
- ask Ss to retell the main point of this lesson.
5. Homework:
- do exercise.
- prepare for the next lesson.
