Activity 1. Present ordinal number.
- ask Ss to look at the picture in part 1 on page 24.
- play the tape first time and ask Ss to listen carefully.
Structure of ordinal number
Ordinal number = cardinal number + th
Ex: 5th : the fifth: thứ năm, ngày mùng 5
Special cases:
1st: first: thứ nhất, ngày mùng 1
2nd: second: thứ 2, ngày mùng 2
3rd: thứ 3 ngày mùng 3
5th: fifth: thứ 5 ngày mùng 5
9th: ninth: thứ 9, ngày mùng 9
12th: twelfth: thứ 12, ngày 12
20th: twentieth: thứ 20, ngày 20
Notes:
How to read the tag –th .
- play the tape 2nd time and ask Ss to repeat.
- ask Ss to read in front of class.
- Give feedback and correct.
- ask Ss to present some festival in Vietnam.
Ex:
2/9: 2nd, September.
30/4: 30th April
20/11: 20th November
Activity 2. Listening stage.
- ask Ss to look at the part 2 on page 24 and answer some questions:
What is this?
It is a calendar.
- set the scene: we will hear listen to the conversation containing the dates of July. You listen to it and write the number you hear.
- play the tape 1st and ask Ss to write down the date they hear then compare with partner.
- ask Ss to write down the board.
- play the tape again to give answer keys.

- present new lesson.
B. Presentation:
Activity 1. Review cardinal number and name of months.
- ask Ss to look at part 3 on part 24.
- ask Ss to rewrite the months from the first month to the last. (Work in individually)
- ask Ss go to the board to write down.
- ask Ss to read in chorus.
Activity 2. ask for dates of birth and usage of simple future tense
- ask Ss to look at picture in part 4 on page 25 and guess What Mr Tan is asking Hoa? 
- play the tape twice and ask Ss to compare their predications

- play the tape and write down Hoa’s answer.

Review the simple future tense:
Form: 
(+) S + will/ shall + V (- inf)
(-) S + will not/ shall not + V (- inf)
(?) Will/ Shall + S + V (- inf) ?
Notes: 
Will not = won’t
Shall not = shan’t
Dialogue.
- present some new words: 
Date of birth = birthday (n)
Nervous (adj) 
Happy (adj)
Worry (adj)
- read the dialogue model and ask Ss to repeat.
- ask Ss to practice dialogue in pairs.
- ask Ss to work in pairs to answer questions then compare with other pairs.
- ask Ss to present their work in front of class.
- Give answer keys:
Hoa is 13 years old.
She will be 14 on her next birthday.
Her birthday is on June eighth.
Hoa live with her uncle and aunt.
Hoa is worried because she does not have any friends.
- ask Ss work in group 3 or 4 to answer question about theirselves.
- ask Ss to introduce about theirselves.

- The usage of preposition “on”.

Activity 1. Reading stage.
Pre- reading:
- ask Ss to look at picture in part 6 on page 26 and answer questions:
What are they doing in the picture?
What is Lan doing?
- set the scene: you are going to read about Lan. Read and find out the answer to these questions:
How old is she now?
Where does she live?
When is her birthday?
When will the party start and finish?
While- reading:
- ask Ss to read the answer of questions above.
- give the right answer.
She is 12.
She lives at 24 Ly Thuong Kiet Street.
Her birthday is on May 25th. 
The party will be at five o’clock in the evening and finish at nine.
- ask some Ss to read the dialogue aloud.
- give feedback and correct Ss’ mistakes.
Post- reading:
- ask Ss to look at Lan’ invitation card and complete it.
- ask Ss to compare their work with friends.
- ask some Ss read aloud their work then translate the invitation card into Vietnamese.
- Give the correct answers.
Structure of birthday invitation card
Salutation: Dear + someone’s name.
Body of the letter: I am having a birthday party on Sunday, May 25th. The birthday party will be at my house at 24 Ly Thuong Kiet Street from 5:00 to 9:00. 
I hope you will come and join in the fun.
Complimentary close: Love
Signature: Lan
Activity 2. Writing stage using simple future tense.
- ask Ss to look at the picture in part 7 on page 27 and guess “What will you do in Lan’ birthday party?”
- ask Ss read questions in part 7 aloud.
- ask Ss to work I group 5 or 7 to discuss “What will you bring to Lan’ birthday party?’
Notes: using the simple future tense “will do”

- repeat how to write birthday invitation card.
