Teaching aims: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to understand a text about Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, understand the song about the unity. II. PREPARATIONS: Book III. PROCEDURES: Teacher’s activities Students’ activities 1. Warm – Up: (5’) Have Ss name some social activities of the Young Pioneers Organization in their school. Suggested answers: - Helping the blind people. - Helping the handicapped. - Cleaning the Environment nearby. - Collecting paper, plastic, glass, - etc. 2. Pre – Reading: (10’) - Introduce vocabualry: + communist (n) + organization (n) + encourage (v) + citizenship (n) Ex: Everyone has citizenship such as: voting, going to school, taking care, etc + establish (v) = found (v), set up (v) + federation (n) + principle (n) + develop one’s awareness (v) + form one’s personality (v) + movement (n) + soft skill (n) + officially (adv) - Have Ss practice new words. 3. While – Reading: (15’) - Ask Ss to read the text to silently. - Ask Ss to work in pairs to do exercise 1. 1. Fill in the mising information: a) Viet Nam. b) December 1976. c) their public awareness and form their personality. d) the guidelines - Call some Ss to read the answers. - Ask Ss to work in groups to do exercise 2. 2. Answer the questions: a) From 16 to 30 years of age one can join the Youth Union. b) The Youth Union was founded on March 26 1931. c) The complete name of the Youth Union is “Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.” d) - Helping the Handicapped. - Cleaning the Environment. - Green Summer Volunteers - Campaign. And others similar movements. e) These activities aim to help the young develop their public awareness and form their personality. f) Ho Chi Minh established the guidelines for the Vietnamese youth. - Ask Ss to practice asking and answering the questions in pairs. 4. Post – Reading: (13’) - Ask Ss questions: 1. Are you a member of the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneer? 2. What programs do you often take part in at school? - Explain vocabulary: + unite (adj) + peace(adj) - Play the tape for Ss 3 times, ask them to guess the missing words. - Ask Ss to give feedback.
