Teaching aims: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to practice making plans using tourist brochures and flight information, talk about their plans for a trip abroad.

OBJECTIVES: Teaching aims: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to practice making plans using tourist brochures and flight information, talk about their plans for a trip abroad. II. PREPARATIONS: Book, cassette tape III. PROCEDURES: Teacher’s activities Students’ activities 1. Warm – Up: (5’) - Have students play the “Lucky numbers”. (handouts) to review some countries in the world they know and have learnt. 2. Pre-Speaking: (10’) - Ask students to read carefully the brochures and flight information in the box. - Explain vocabulary: 1. itinerary (n) 2. via (prep) 3. facilities (n) 4. brochure (n) 5. rate (n) - Ask students to look at the information in the box and ask questions: ¯ For the flight information: + How many flights a week can you take from Los Angeles to Boston? + Which flight can you take every day of the week? + Which flight goes from Los Angeles to Boston via (Chicago)? ¯ For the Hotel advertisement: + Which of the hotels is cheaper? + How much is a double room/a single room in (Revere Hotel)? + Which hotel is more comfortable than the other? What facilities does it have? ¯ For the Travel brochure: + Which place would you like to visit? 3. While-Speaking: (15’) - Have students make a plan for a trip abroad by fill details in the itinerary. Model: Depart Los Angeles: flight 835 at 10.00 on Monday. Arrive Boston: at 4:00 Accommodation: Atlantic Hotel Sightseeing: Boston University, Museums & Art Galleries. Depart Boston: Flight 710 at 10:00 on Thursday, 22 - Ask students to practice in pairs, basing on their itinerary. Model: S1: Where shall we stay? S2: The Atlantic Hotel is cheaper. S1: What time should we leave Los Angeles? S2: There’s a daily flight at 10 am. Would that be OK? S1: Where should we visit? S2: I think we should visit Boston University, Museums & Art Galleries. - Call some pairs to perform before the class. 4. Post - Speaking: (13’) - Ask students to make a plan for their coming summer holiday by filling the information in their itinerary. Example: Depart (Hue) Arrive (Ho Chi Minh City) Accommodation: . Sightseeing: . Depart (Ho Chi Minh City) . - Call some students to read the answer. 5.
