UNIT 4: LEARNING A FOREIGN LANGUAGE
Lesson 2: SPEAK
I. OBJECTIVES:
1. Educational aims: Ss should have good ways to improve their English.
2. Teaching aims: By the end of the lesson student will be able to persuade friends to attend the school they like 
II. PREPARATIONS: book, extra – board
III. PROCEDURES:

1. Warm - up (7’)
- Have Ss play a game :”Whisper”
- Call 10 Ss, divide them into 2 group
- Give 2 Ss 2 paper
- Have Ss read the sentences and then they whisper the sentence to the last student,the last student in each team will write the sentence on the board
 S1: Do you like learning English?
 S2: I think we should inprove our English 
- Work in team
2. Pre - speaking (15’)
- Ask Ss some questions:
Do you enjoy learning foreign language?
Have you ever taken any English course?
 3. If you had a chance to study aboard, which country would you go?
4. Would you choose a famous school?
 5. Would you live in a dormitory or a campus? 
 6. Would you talk with native speakers?
- Give some new words:
+ famous (adj) fame (n) = reputation (n)
+ dormitory (n)
+ campus (n)
- Have Ss practice new words.
- Set the scene:Thu,Tam and Kim are awarded a scholarship,US$ 2000 to attend an English language course abroad
- Have Ss read three advertisements to get information
- Review some expressions:

 What do you think..........?
 I agree/I disagree because....
 I don’t undrestand
 Why don’t we.?
 If we go to, we can .
 We should......
 Let’s.........
- Listen and anser the questions
- Listen and write
- Practice new words

3. While - speaking (13’)
- Have Ss work in group of three and role play:Thu ,Tam and Kim try to persuade the others
- Give model:
+ A: I think we should go to the Seattle School of English in the USA. You can stay with Vietnamese friends.
+ B: I disagree because we can’t practice speaking English with native speakers.

- Call some Ss practice in front of class. 
- Work in groups of three to make a dialouge

4. Post - speaking (8’)
- Have Ss discuss the topic: “What will you do on Christmas?”
 S1: go to the churse
 S2: visit their friends
 S3: go to Dalat
- Get feedback
- Role play
- Practice
5. Homework (2’)
- Have Ss answer the question: “How do you learn English?”
- Ask Ss to prepare next lesson: Unit 4 – Listen/ p.35
