The past simple tense (Thì quá khứ đơn)
+ Use: Dùng để diễn tả một hành động hay một sự việc đã xãy ra trong quá khứ và chấm dứt không còn liên quan đến hiện tại. (Trong câu thường có các trạng từ như: Yesterday, ago , Last night, last week, last month, last year, in 1996 ...)
+ Form:
Be: was / were
+ Was: I / He / She / It / Lan ...
+ Were: We / you / They / Mai and Lan ...
Ex: I was at home yesterday.
S + was / were + not
Negative:
 Ex: I was not at home yesterday.

Interrogative:
 + Yes, S + Was/ were.

Ex: Were you at home yesterday?
b. Ordinary verb:
Regular verb: V-ed
Ex: Yesterday morning, we went to school.
Irregular verb: V2
Ex: Hoa received a letter to her mother last week.

Interrogative:

a. Too / so : Dùng để biểu lộ sự đồng tình, được dùng trong câu khẳng định
b. Either / neither : dùng để biểu lộ sự đồng tình, được dùng trong câu phủ định.
+ Too / either: Đứng ở cuối câu.
+ So / neither: đứng ở đấu câu, phải đảo ngữ.
Ex: Hoa likes bananas, and her aunt does, too.
 Hoa likes bananas, and so does her aunt .
