New lesson: Method Content *Pre-listening: T: sticks the picture in A4 (p54) on the board and asks Ss some questions. T: What are the picture about? Ss: about some school subjects: Geography , physical education T: What school subjects do you like? Ss: answer. T: Can you guess what subjects Ba and Hoa do on Saturday morning? *While-listening: T: has Ss listen to the tape for the first time Ss: listen and choose name the subjects that Hoa and Ba learn on Saturday morning. T: has Ss listen the second time. Ss: listen for the second time and match the letter a, b, c, d, e . T: asks Ss to discuss their results with a partner. Ss: work in pairs. *Post-listening: T: calls some Ss to write the correct letters next to the names on the board. T: remarks and corrects their mistakes if necessary. T: gives the correct answers. *Pre – reading: T: asks Ss some questions: - How many subjects do you study at school? - What do you study in each subject? - Which subject do you like best? Ss: answer (can answer in Vietnamese). T: introduces: today we read a passage that tell you some subjects. *While – reading: T: asks Ss to read the passage in silence to find out the main idea. T: gives them some new words. T: lead Ss to read the new words. Ss: repeat the new words after the teacher. T: asks Ss to read the passage, look at the part : “ Now disscuss with a partner”.Then choose the words which are related to the subject. ( they will odd one out). (T: uses stick papers) T: explains the meaning of some new words in this part. Ss: do the exercise in pairs. *Post reading: T: asks some Ss to present their results. T: asks Ss answer some questions: - Why do you odd “paintings,...” out? - So in which subject do we learn about paintings,...? Ss: answer. T: calls some Ss to read the passage aloud. T: remarks and corrects their pronunciation if necessary. T: explains the request of the exercise. T: asks Ss to look at the sub board and try to guess the meaning of the vocabulary. T: asks Ss to do by themselves. Then compare the result with a partner. T: calls some Ss to match on the sub board. T: remarks and corrects the mistakes if necessary. A4. Listen. T: asks Ss to answer the questions: What do you study in...(literature, history...)? Home work: T: ask Ss to: - Learn new words by heart. - Practise their reading. - Prepare Unit 5 (B1 ) for the next period. *Self evaluation:
