Aim: Reading a dialogue for details and practicing food vocabulary.
Objective: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to understand the dialogue in details and practice food vocabulary.
Teaching aids: Text books, pictures.
Work arrangements: T - whole class, pair work, individual work, team work.

Kim’s game
- Divide the class into 2 teams.
- Show the pictures of: bananas, rice, fish, chicken, beef, milk, carrots, peas, vegetables, oranges.
- Ask students to look at the things in the picture (for 20 seconds).
- Put away the picture and ask students to write down as many things as they can remember.
- The team having more right words is the winner.

I. Pre teach vocabulary
- spinach (n): rau mâm xôi, rau chân vịt
 (visual)
- cucumber (n): quả dưa chuột
 (realia)
- papaya (n): quả đu đủ
 (visual)
- durian (n): quả sầu riêng
 (visual)
- hate (v): ghét
 (antonym: like)
- smell (v): ngửi
 (translation)
* Checking vocabulary: What and where
- Write the new words on the board, each word in a circle.
- Practice saying the words, rub out the words one by one, but leave the circle.
- Continue until all the circles are empty. Ask ss to repeat the words chorally looking at the empty circles.
- Ask ss to go to the board and write the words again in their correct circles.

II. Open prediction
- Set the scene: Show the pictures of Hoa and her aunt then ask ss some questions:
+ Who are they? - Hoa and her aunt.
+ Where did they go yesterday? - They went to the market.
+ What did they buy there? - They bought some food.
- Have ss to look at the picture and guess what Hoa and her aunt bought.

I. Reading and checking prediction
- Ask ss to open the books then read the dialogue and check their prediction.
- Answer keys:

- Call on some pairs to practice the dialogue.
II. Comprehension questions
* Lucky numbers
- Write numbers on the board (1 - 8).

- Tell ss that each number is for a question but 4 of them are lucky numbers. For a lucky number, ss will get 2 marks without answering any questions. For other numbers, ss have to answer the questions. If their answer is correct, that team will get 2 marks; if it is incorrect, the other team will answer and gets only 1 mark for their correct answer.
1. Lucky numbers.
2. What did Hoa and her aunt buy at the market?
-> They bought some beef, some cucumbers, spinach and some oranges.
3. Where did they go first at the market?
-> First, they went to the meat stall.
4. What meat do they dislike?
-> They dislike pork.
5. Lucky numbers.
6. Does Hoa’s aunt like carrots?
-> No, she doesn’t.
7. What are their favorite vegetables?
-> They are spinach and cucumbers.
8. Why didn’t they buy a papaya and a pineapple?
-> Because they aren’t ripe.
