Objectives: After the lesson, Ss will be able to: Know more the names stores and facilities Ask for and give directions. - Develop reading, listening, speaking and writing skills. II. Language contents: Vocabulary: Tourist (n), Souvenir shop (n) Grammar: - Modal: Could - Prepositions of position and directions - Expression for asking and giving directions. III. Techniques: Eliciting, asking and answering, pair work, group work. IV. Teaching aids: A cassette, a tape, sub-boards, pictures. V. Procedures: Greetings. Warm up: T has Ss sing an English song. T. revises the lesson. New lesson: METHOD CONTENT * Presentation: T introduces the new lesson by asking students to look at the pictures and identify the places to themselves. T asks students to give the names of the places. T remarks and corrects if necessary T asks “Are there any similar places in our town? Name these places.” - T uses additional pictures to do the same as the above. T gives a picture and asks the students: “Who are they” “Where are they?” “What does the tourist want?”. T presents the vocabulary on the board. And then T asks students to listen to the tape. T has Ss listen the first time (Books closed.) T has Ss listen the second time (Listen and repeat after the tape.) T presents the expression used to ask for the way and give location / direction. T lets Ss practice the dialogue in pairs. T calls some pairs to read aloud before the class. T remarks and corrects the mistakes if necessary. T asks some students to translate the dialogue into Vietnamese. A1. New lesson: METHOD CONTENT Presentation: T introduces the new lesson by asking students to look at the pictures and identify the different places in the map (T explains some more if necessary). T asks Ss to look at the direction of each place carefully. T asks students to listen and repeat the dialogue in the book. T calls some pairs to read again. T gives model dialogues. T helps Ss remind: Prepositions of position and directions and the way to make compound nouns. T lets students practice in pairs. T calls on some pairs to role-play their dialogues. T corrects their mistakes if necessary. T asks Ss to look at the plan carefully once more. T sets up the situation:" If now you go straight ahead to the second street, turn left. What is on the right next to the restaurant? (bank). T introduces: "You will hear similar directions. Listen to the tape and write the names of shops, offices you hear following the directions in the tape. T has Ss listen to the tape three times. T asks Ss to compare the result with a partner.
